More Weekend Fun - Art & Animals

Today's Bright-Yellow is thanks to my friend, Tracey, who has also suggested some other fun topics for future posts. Thanks Tracey!

For the Chicagoans, this weekend is the School of the Art Institute Spring Art Sale! I'm really excited to check this out (I'm going on Friday if anyone would like to join me). The sale takes place at the MacLean Center Ballroom (112 S. Michigan Ave.) on Friday the 17th from 11AM - 7PM and Saturday the 18th from 10AM - 5PM (you can combine art and music if you go to the indie music event in yesterday's post!). Best of all - admission is FREE!!!!! For my fellow unemployed and/or living on a strict budget peeps, FREE is a beautiful word!

All of the work at the sale is created by School of the Art Institute students (over 120 of them) and it's an opportunity for the students to learn about promoting and selling their work while all of us get in early on work by future famous artists. The sale includes jewelry, paintings, sculpture, photography, prints, fashion, and multimedia pieces. Students receive 85% of the proceeds from their individual sales and the SAIC Student Association receives 15% to cover the costs of putting on the show. Apparently there is also a holiday version of the sale which is jam packed so hopefully the spring sale is just as successful! For more information, click here. If you want to go with me on Friday afternoon, just post in the comments or send me an email.

On a completely different note, my friend, Deb, runs a cat shelter in Michigan called Crash's Landing. The Animal Rescue Site is running a contest and the winner gets $100,000! Crash's Landing did well the last time they ran this promotion but we need them to WIN this year! So, please click here, scroll down a bit to enter the shelter information (Crash's Landing in Michigan), the name will appear and just hit vote. You can vote every day and I hope you do.

Thanks for reading Bright-Yellow and be sure to add a comment to the comment section (or Friday is going to be really boring!).
