As many of you know, I used to work for WXRT. XRT does an annual Cubs Opening Day broadcast which was actually the first event I worked when I started at the station. This morning, we got up early (it's a relative term - I used to have to be there at 5AM when I worked for XRT!) and headed down to Yak-Zies to kick off the Cubs home opener. The broadcast is always a lot of fun - live music, fun people, and just overall good spirits.
This year's l
ive music included Rocco Deluca and the Burden. I first saw these guys a couple of years ago when I worked at XRT and, honestly, we were excited because Keifer Sutherland owned (maybe still does?) the record label the band was on and he was going to come to Chicago for our promo event. Keifer was great but Rocco Deluca and the Burden were AMAZING!!!!! They totally rocked the place and they didn't disappoint this morning either - despite having to play at 8:30AM! They are blues + rock with a dash of country and a sprinkle of swagger. Plus - his album cover is BRIGHT YELLOW!If you haven't already, check out Rocco Deluca and the Burden at iTunes or by clicking here to go to their site. If you can, go see them live. Their CDs don't do justice to the live shows. This band had the crowd at Yak-Zies rocking and dancing at 8:30 this morning (you can see photos at 93XRT.com soon) so imagine them at night in a proper music venue!
Well, the Cubs are on a rain delay - perfect for listening to some new (or maybe not so new to some) music. Be sure to leave some comments and sign up for the subscribe feed.
